Terms of Service
Effective June 30, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Tater browser extension, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By installing the extension or using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What Tater does
Tater helps you recognize potential email scams by analyzing the emails you view in supported webmail services and showing plain-English warnings. The analysis runs on your device. Tater is a safety aid — not a guarantee.
2. Important: Tater is not professional advice
Tater provides automated risk assessments to help you make safer decisions. It is not legal, financial, or professional security advice, and it cannot detect every scam. Always use your own judgment before sending money, sharing personal information, clicking links, or replying to messages. When in doubt, contact the company or person directly using a phone number or website you find independently.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or interfere with the Service except where permitted by law.
- Misuse, resell, or redistribute the Service without our permission.
- Rely on the Service as your only safeguard against fraud.
5. Accounts, plans, and billing
Core scam protection in the extension is available at no cost. We may offer optional paid plans (for example, family or premium features). If and when you purchase a paid plan, the price, billing cycle, and any renewal terms will be presented to you at checkout, and additional billing terms may apply. Taxes may be added where required.
6. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle information. Email analysis runs on your device, and we never collect the contents of your emails.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will detect all scams, be error-free, or be uninterrupted.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tater and its owners, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any scam, fraud, or loss the Service did not detect or prevent. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, content, and branding, is owned by Tater and protected by applicable laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or end the Service, or your access to it, if you violate these Terms or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
11. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we will revise the “Effective” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
